Gateway Gardener in Bloom 9/15/11

I was out in the garden over the summer, but only to perform necessary chores as quickly as possible before retreating from the heat and humidity. So it was nice to spend some optional time photographing the survivors from Summer 2011. The autumn garden has a different look and feel than the spring and summer garden. Grasses come into their own with beautiful golden plumes accented through the morning sun, and the predominant colors of yellow and purple complement each other perfectly, with occasional surprises of shocking red to keep us (and the hummingbirds) guessing.
